The Mystery of Area 51 Area 51 is a very interesting place. It is supposedly a military test base for top-secret airplanes, but in 1989 a man by the name of Bob Lazar told otherwise. Bob Lazar claimed that Area 51 was testing extremely advanced aircrafts they obtained by trading with aliens, and that was where the conspiracy began. Since then many other conspiracy theories have been told of too, not just aliens. Such as, exotic energy weapons or means of weather control, a one world government also known as the Majestic 12 organization, and time travel. Another thing is I know many people wonder, is why Area 51 is called Area 51. Well, the reason is because the base’s Nevada Test Site grid number is 51, hence Area 51. The past holds many secrets. There are many unsolved mysteries that continue to interest people today. This paper will try to solve the mystery of Area 51 by examining new and old evidence and resources. The location of Area 51 is in the southern portion of Nevada 83 miles northwest from downtown Las Vegas. The reason Area 51 was created was to test the new U-2 spy plane. The spy plane was used to fly missions over the Soviet Union. Area 51 is still used today to test top-secret planes for the military. A question that is asked a lot is who runs Area 51? THe name of the group that runs Area 51 is the Air Force Flight Test Center. Area 51 is not the only name for this military base. Some other names are Groom Lake, Dreamland, Home Base, Watertown, Strip, Paradise Ranch, and Homey Airport. Military pilots refer to Area 51 as The Box. Here is one last thing you should know, Area 51 is also home to the world’s largest runway. The runway 14L/32R stretches 23,300 feet. Now it is time to find out the answer to this conspiracy theory.
Are aliens really real? This is the question we have to ask before we decide if aliens are being studied in Area 51. “In January of 2008 over 20 witnesses came forward in Stephenville, Texas and reported seeing a mysterious light show in the sky”(UFO Sighting-Stephenville, Texas). 20 witnesses does seem like a pretty decent number of people who sighted UFOs, but they still have no evidence. Here is a quote from one of the witnesses. “There was this red glow that appeared and then went away, then a minute later I saw what looked like nine bright strobe lights” (Gaiten). Area 51 is supposedly in possession of alien life forms, as well as their spacecrafts. Including the material found after the crash at Roswell.
Although there are a lot of different alien conspiracies Area 51 is involved in, and there have been numerous alien sightings, there are just as many opposing theories. Here is one theorist’s opinion on the alien conspiracy at Area 51. “In my opinion there are problems with all three of these viewpoints. With so many people looking for alien craft it doesn’t seem likely that anyone would still be flying them at Groom Lake or S-4, as it's also known. As for advanced airplanes, the Air Force and other entities have sworn to key Congressional personnel - sworn - in high-level meetings that no such planes exist. As for the disinformation theory, if this had all been a sneaky plan, designed to drawn attention away from other projects at the base, it was a miserable failure. People are up there every night of the week looking for whatever it is that might be underway at Area 51. And if it's all a show, it has to rank as the longest running show in history” (Knapp). Disinformation is “false information, as about a country's military strength or plans, publicly announced or planted in the news media, esp. of other countries”(dictionary.com). As this theorist pointed out, he thinks the Area 51 alien conspiracy is just cover up for the top-secret plane testing at Area 51.
There are many unsolved mysteries that continue to interest people today. This paper has tried to solve the mystery of Area 51 by examining new and old evidence as well as resources. After researching and examining my evidence I believe that aliens and their technology are not being held in the military base Area 51, or any place for that matter. George Knapp had a really good theory in my opinion, and his theory definitely swayed me to oppose this theory. I have some other reason too. One reason is if aliens are real, and they are as advanced as people say they are, why haven’t they attacked us? Also, the thought of a race that is hundreds of years more advanced than we are just does not seem logical. Once again I strongly believe that aliens and their spacecrafts are not being held in Area 51. Remember though that is just my personal opinion. So for all of you alien hunters out there just keep on looking, and maybe one day I will be proven wrong.
